Top 5 Tips for Surviving the Naperville Ale Fest – Winter Edition

Ah, Illinois in the winter.

There’s something about “being from around here” that gives us the right to complain about the awful weather, while simultaneously being proud of surviving it. It’s that thing deep down inside that wells up when your West Coast friends whine about the temperature dropping below perfect. “You think THAT’S cold? You don’t know cold.” It’s the thing that prompted us to host an outdoor beer festival in February.

We put together a list of our top five tips for surviving Naperville Ale Fest so you can come prepared. If you have your tickets — see you there! If not, grab them before they sell out.

Dress For The Weather

It’s fun to bundle up and drink good beer outside in the winter. It’s not fun to drink good beer outside in the winter if you’re just wearing a thin jacket because you forgot to dress the part. Wear layers, bring your gloves, bring a winter hat. If you plan ahead, you’ll enjoy yourself more. But we didn’t need to tell you that, we’re not your mother.

(But seriously, wear warm clothing)

Food is FuelAnd fuel is food. Actually, strike that last part. You’re going to want to make sure to bring a little bit of spending money for some warming grub served at Chicago’s favorite food trucks. We’ll have a bunch of tasty options so come prepared.

Dress WARMLY

Did we say this already? You’ll be outside all day so wear your long johns, parka, boots, hat, scarf, gloves, ear warmer thingee, balaclava — whatever you have that will keep you from shivering.

Pace Yourself

Four hours is a long time to drink. Take your time, get plenty of water throughout the day, and keep in mind that you don’t have to drink every ounce of beer you’re handed.

Have Fun!

Sit and relax around the fire pits, check out the food trucks, get some new swag, and enjoy your surroundings. It’s not everyday you get to enjoy this much amazing beer in one place.
